“American schools harbor approximately 2.1 million bullies and 2.7 million of their victims.” ~ Dan Olweus of the National School Safety Center.

In BTW Magnet High School's efforts to address this national dilemma, we are requesting that students and/or parents report incidents of bullying. In addition, students should take the following steps:

Report incidents of bullying in a timely manner to a school administrator or counselor.

Make sure that you inform your parents/guardians if you are afraid to share a bullying incident with school personnel.

Record the date, time, and witnesses present immediately following a bullying incident.

Avoid horseplay, inappropriate dialogue with peers, etc. to ensure that individuals know that you take offense to comments and actions that could place you or someone else in harm's way.

Choose your friends wisely and the information that you share with peers wisely.

Do not be a victim of "he-said-she-said" miscommunication. Do not allow anyone to place limits on your education by involving you in a battle that is not yours to fight.

Stay focused on your education. Schools are places for learning not places for bullying and intimidation.

Help our school join national efforts to stomp out bullying with timely reporting, school staff interventions, and positive behavior and communication.

Parents, if you wish to report a bullying incident, please contact Principal Quesha Starks at (334)269-3617.
